Their tasks include:

  • Examining plans and instructions to know what’s needed.
  • Choosing and getting metal ready.
  • Cutting marked metal with different tools and machines.
  • Shaping metal pieces by hand or with machines, sometimes by heating and hitting.
  • Making sure parts fit together right using tools and measures.
  • Joining metal parts using welding, bolts, or rivets.
  • Checking welds to make sure they’re done well.
  • Giving final touches and cleaning the finished products.
