Migration Skill Assessment - CDR for Australia

Applying for a skill assessment involves a 6 step process.Below are the steps:

1. Check your qualifications:

Your qualifications are the primary factor in determining the right evaluation track. The decision is made by:

• The country from which it was provided to you
• The nature of certification
• If it is accredited.

Accredited engineering degrees are those with recognized treaties or agreements. The three relevant accords are the Dublin Accord, the Sydney Accord, and the Washington Accord. Under these terms, we shall acknowledge your qualifications if:

• It was completed the year after that nation was admitted to the agreement as a full signatory.
• Your program is accredited for the period shown on the signatory’s website for your country. It could be known as the graduate year, admittance, or program commencement.
• It is insufficient to obtain provisional accreditation for your program, which is listed as fully accredited.

You can use the International Engineering Alliance website’s qualification checker to determine if your credentials are accredited.Through the Australian Qualifications Pathway, you can apply directly if your qualification was completed in Australia and is included in the list of recognized programs maintained by Engineers Australia.

2. Occupational categories:

Engineers Australia recognizes four occupational groups for skilled migration:

• Professional Engineer
• Engineering technologist
• Engineering associate
• Engineering manager.

You will be hired in Australia in one of these occupational categories based on your qualifications and talents.

3. Assessment Pathways:

If your qualification is accredited, you can choose one of four evaluation pathways or types:

• Australian qualifying.
• Washington Accord
• Dublin Accord
• Sydney Accord

You can apply under the Washington Accord if you meet the French requirements. To apply through the Australian Qualifications Pathway, you must have an advanced certificate or associate degree in engineering from Australia that ASQA recognizes.

• You’re looking for work as an associate engineer.
• If you have a certificate that has been provisionally certified in Australia, apply through the competency demonstration report (CDR) evaluation method.

If your degree needs to be recognized, go through the CDR application process. In this case, internationally benchmarked elements assess your knowledge, abilities, and competencies.

Choose your engineering occupation (or qualification) from the drop-down list in the CDR route online application. The Australian government has decided on 31 engineering positions. If your evaluation is successful, you will receive a result letter indicating your engineering occupation and category. 

4. Prepare your application:

Your online application can be started, saved, closed, and opened again anytime so you can finish it later. Examine the requirements for the evaluation type you have selected in the online application. After that, compile all the necessary paperwork and read the detailed instructions on preparing your application for the migration skill assessment exam. This document, which can be downloaded, describes the following:

• Complete the list of the documents required for the assessment route you have selected.
• English Language requirements 
• Ethical guidelines that your application must follow.

5. Submit your application:

You must first create an account on the platform before applying online. After making an account, you will receive an email with your account ID. After logging in with your account ID, navigate to the menu and select Migration Skills Assessment. 

Submit your application after deciding on an assessment path and attaching the appropriate files. Although the online application is straightforward, you may always refer to the application guidelines for help.

You will receive an email verifying that the authority has received your application. 

• Assessment processing times: Applications for regular migration skills examinations are typically assigned to an assessor within 15 weeks. It is not guaranteed that you will hear back within this time frame. The quality of the documents you submit and whether we want extra information from you will impact how long it takes to process your assessment. To check the status of your application, log in to your portal account. Online status updates are visible throughout the evaluation process until it is completed. • Assessment fees: CDR for Australia provides a qualified evaluation service to help you obtain a migration visa. Our fees reflect the expenses paid during this thorough review of your qualifications. The cost for a migration skills evaluation is included in the CDR and RPL Services prices. 

6. Receive your assessment outcome:

We’ll email you to let you know if your application was accepted. If it is, you will also obtain a migration skills assessment outcome letter, which you can use for your migration application. You may use the EA portal to confirm the details of your outcome letter.

You may request a review within three months of receiving your evaluation results. An unbiased assessor conducts the reviews, and the findings will be sent to you via email. Reviewing a paper can take up to eight weeks.

If you are not satisfied with the review’s conclusions, you may file an appeal. You must appeal within six months of receiving your initial decision. Only after receiving a negative review,  you may seek an appeal.
